From a late bloomer to the best in the business AJ Cole has only solidified his status among the likes of Ray Guy, Jeff Via @Raiders on X

What happened: Cole has earned two first-team All-Pro selections and three Pro Bowl nods. His 63.3-yard average in Week 1 was the highest single-game mark by an NFL punter since the 2024 opening weekend.

Why it matters: Cole's nine punts inside the 20 this season show placement alongside distance. That combination can leave opposing offenses with longer fields after a stopped drive.

By the numbers: Through seven games, Cole has punted 24 times with a 51.08-yard gross average, a 43.3-yard net average and a long of 72 yards. Nine of those punts, or 37.5%, landed inside the 20.

What to watch: The rest of the season will determine whether Cole maintains his career-leading average.
