What happened: Alex Pereira addressed his UFC retirement timeline via Yahoo Sports following a contentious stretch with the promotion. Dana White recently pushed back on Pereira's claim that UFC brass directed Daniel Cormier to promote a Ciryl Gane vs. Josh Hokit matchup at UFC 334.

Why it matters: Pereira's career timeline carries major implications for the heavyweight division after he weighed his future in the weight class following a June loss to Gane at UFC Freedom 250. A shortened runway shifts the stakes for the top of the division heading into the winter pay-per-view schedule.

What to watch: Pereira is slated to meet Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 335.
