What happened: Anadarko Public Schools placed its football coach and athletic director on paid suspension Thursday, a day after he appeared in Caddo County District Court. Jackson faces misdemeanor charges of assault and battery, threatening an act of violence, and leaving the scene of an accident involving damage.

Why it matters: A probable cause affidavit alleges Jackson assaulted and threatened a man after an Oct. 16 collision, then left without providing his information. The district called the suspension precautionary and said it does not determine wrongdoing.

By the numbers: Anadarko is 3-5 overall and 2-3 in District 2A-I-2. Jackson led the program to state titles in 2011 and 2013.

What to watch: Anadarko is scheduled to play Friday. Jackson is free on $5,000 bond and is due back in court Jan. 20.
