What happened: Real Madrid interim figure Álvaro Arbeloa responded to questions about Kylian Mbappé's comments on the second half of the season, noting that the forward scored more goals in the first half than the second. The remarks, relayed by Fabrizio Romano, follow a stretch of Arbeloa publicly backing Mbappé's commitment amid injury and availability questions. Arbeloa pushed back on the framing, suggesting the goal output speaks for itself across the campaign.

Why it matters: The exchange matters because Mbappé's productivity and fitness have shaped Real Madrid's season narrative, with prior coverage highlighting uncertainty over his return timeline and recovery routine. How the club's bench voice characterizes his contribution affects locker-room temperature heading into the final stretch. It also frames how supporters and media interpret Mbappé's own recent remarks about the campaign's second half.

What to watch: Watch for Mbappé's next public response and whether Real Madrid's remaining fixtures clarify his availability. Further Arbeloa press-conference remarks could escalate or defuse the storyline.
