What happened: AS Monaco finalized the transfer of 21-year-old center-back Sadibou Sané from FC Metz on Tuesday. The defender agreed to a five-year contract tying him to the Principality club through the summer of 2031. He joins an incoming group that includes a recent loan arrival from Manchester City.

Why it matters: The acquisition bolsters Monaco's backline as they construct their squad for the upcoming campaign. Sané adds youthful depth to a defense navigating multiple competitions following his former club's drop to Ligue 2. The Principality side is rapidly reshaping its roster during a busy opening week of the July window.

What to watch: The technical staff will integrate the young defender into preseason preparations. Additional roster turnover remains possible as the front office evaluates further market opportunities.
