What happened: Rookie quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis entered Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in London after Marcus Mariota headed to the locker room. The change leaves Washington down to its third-string option under center.

Why it matters: The Commanders are already playing without starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, who missed a second consecutive week with an elbow injury. Kaliakmanis, selected 223rd overall out of Rutgers in the 2026 NFL Draft, now steps into regular-season action.

What to watch: Washington will monitor Mariota's status as Kaliakmanis manages the offense against Indianapolis.
