Only three lefty duos have done it since 1928.

Back-to-back HRs by LHB vs. the same LHP in Postseason history: 1928: Ruth & Gehrig vs. Bill Sherdel 2026: Harper & Via @MLBNetwork on X

What happened: Left-handed hitters Jake Bauers and Mitchell hit consecutive seventh-inning home runs off left-hander Blake Snell, marking only the third time in MLB postseason history that left-handed batters went back-to-back against the same southpaw. Bauers worked a 10-pitch at-bat before launching a go-ahead two-run home run, and Mitchell followed immediately to complete the sequence.

Why it matters: The milestone stood alone for nearly a century before happening twice during the 2026 playoffs, joining Harper and Schwarber going back-to-back against left-hander Dylan Lee this October. Prior to the 2026 postseason, only Ruth and Gehrig had accomplished the feat, doing so against Bill Sherdel in 1928.

By the numbers: Postseason back-to-back home runs by left-handed batters off the same left-handed pitcher (per Elias Sports Bureau): Ruth and Gehrig vs. Bill Sherdel (1928); Harper and Schwarber vs. Dylan Lee (2026); Bauers and Mitchell vs. Blake Snell (2026). The seventh-inning sequence marked the first time left-handed hitters went back-to-back off Snell and only the second game of his career allowing two home runs to left-handed batters.

What to watch: Late-inning left-on-left pitching matchups and bullpen hook timing will remain under scrutiny as the 2026 postseason continues.
