What happened: Chicago continues to explore defensive line help ahead of the deadline, per Wiltfong Jr. Mack, Sweat and DeForest Buckner are among the rushers connected to the Bears. San Francisco is tracking the same group of defenders.

Why it matters: Chicago is positioned for a postseason push and wants to deepen its pass rush for the stretch run. Adding an established rusher would ease pressure on the secondary and keep the rotation fresh late in games. San Francisco chasing the same targets tightens the market for both clubs.

What to watch: Chicago must decide whether talks turn into a move before the deadline passes. Interest from San Francisco could force an early decision.
