What happened: Formula 2 graduates Gabi Bortoleto and Rafael Camara will both compete on the 2027 Formula 1 grid, giving Brazil two active drivers in the championship. Haas signed Camara to a multi-year contract starting in 2027 to fill the seat vacated by Esteban Ocon at the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.

Why it matters: Camara's promotion gives Brazil two full-time Formula 1 drivers simultaneously for the first time in more than 10 years. The 21-year-old current Formula 2 standings leader arrives with Ferrari academy pedigree after winning back-to-back titles in 2024 FRECA and 2025 Formula 3.

What to watch: Camara will finish his 2026 Formula 2 title campaign before stepping up to join Bortoleto on the 2027 Formula 1 grid.
