What happened: The Milwaukee Brewers now hold the best record in Major League Baseball after the Los Angeles Dodgers dropped their recent matchup. Los Angeles fell 10-7 to the Philadelphia Phillies, relinquishing the top overall spot in the standings.

Why it matters: The standings shift mirrors last season's dynamics, when Milwaukee also surged to the league's top record. The Dodgers are 59-33 on the season, keeping them tightly grouped with the Brewers as the August 3 trade deadline approaches.

By the numbers: Los Angeles has lost three of its last five contests, scoring 5.2 runs per game while allowing 3.7 this year. The Brewers and Dodgers remain at the top of recent power rankings despite the standings change.

What to watch: Both front offices will continue evaluating potential roster additions ahead of the August 3 deadline. The Dodgers look to rebound in their next scheduled contest.
