What happened: Brittney Griner now sits at No. 1 on the WNBA's all-time blocked shots list. She has reached 878 career blocks and is still adding to the total, moving past the previous standard to claim sole possession of the top spot.

Why it matters: Shot-blocking has defined Griner's career, and standing alone atop the league's all-time list cements her as one of the most dominant interior defenders the WNBA has produced. The milestone places her permanently in the record books during the league's 30th season, a marker of sustained excellence rather than a single moment. Griner reached the mark by passing the previous career blocks leader.

What to watch: Watch how far Griner extends the record across the remainder of the 2026 season as she continues to add to her career total.
