What happened: Connecticut Sun center Brittney Griner has become the WNBA's all-time leader in career blocked shots. She recorded her 878th career block to move past the previous record holder, and afterward shared an emotional response to reaching the milestone.

Why it matters: The mark cements Griner among the most dominant interior defenders in league history and adds a signature individual achievement to her Connecticut tenure. Reaching the top of an all-time defensive category underscores the longevity and consistency she has brought to the rim-protection role across her career.

What to watch: Watch how Griner builds on the record over the remainder of the 2026 regular season as she extends her margin atop the career list.
