Two strikeouts for Cade Winquest in his first Major League inning! https://t.co/8y9EF9f1Tb Via @Cardinals on X

What happened: The appearance marked Winquest's MLB debut following his Aug. 27 promotion. He opened 2026 on a Major League roster but returned to the organization that drafted him in 2022 before appearing in a game.

Why it matters: Winquest made an Opening Day roster as a Rule 5 selection, then was designated for assignment without pitching in April. His debut finally converted that roster stint into big-league experience.

By the numbers: Winquest recorded two strikeouts in his first Major League inning.

What to watch: His next bullpen assignment will offer a longer look at how his strikeout stuff translates against Major League hitters.
