Coach Campbell with an update on Brian Branch: https://t.co/JjzdteGGww Via @Lions on X

What happened: Campbell addressed Brian Branch on Friday, with Branch still carrying an official out designation from Sept. 29. The development follows Branch's camp stint on PUP during Achilles rehab and keeps his availability in focus early in the regular season.

Why it matters: Branch's status matters for a secondary that already lost Avonte Maddox for the season and has had to keep sorting depth on the back end. If he gets back on the field, Detroit regains one of its more productive defenders; if not, the reshuffle continues into another game week.

By the numbers: Branch recorded 75 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 12 games in 2025. Detroit drafted him in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft at No. 45 overall out of Alabama.

What to watch: Detroit's next practice participation and injury report should give the clearest read on whether Branch is moving toward game availability. Any secondary roster move would also sharpen that timeline.
