What happened: Vancouver said its first-ever Fan Fest, presented by Rogers, will run for three days at Rogers Arena starting Thursday, Sept. 24. The event is timed ahead of the Canucks' first home preseason game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Why it matters: The rollout gives the club a multi-day arena event to open its fall calendar instead of a single-night promotion. It also lands seven days before the Canucks' Oct. 1 home opener against Edmonton.

By the numbers: 3 days: Fan Fest opens Sept. 24 at Rogers Arena. 7 days later, Vancouver is set to host Edmonton again in its Oct. 1 home opener.

What to watch: Next up is Sept. 24, when the Fan Fest opens alongside Vancouver's first home preseason date. The regular-season home opener against Edmonton follows on Oct. 1.
