What happened: Forward Rutger McGroarty has been reassigned to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The roster move comes after McGroarty was previously recalled to the NHL roster alongside Chase Pietila.

Why it matters: The transaction adjusts Pittsburgh's forward depth following a 5-4 defeat against Montreal. Returning to the AHL provides McGroarty with consistent playing time and development with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

What to watch: McGroarty will join Wilkes-Barre/Scranton ahead of the AHL club's upcoming schedule.
