What happened: MLB Network highlighted Casey Schmitt after he piled up 80 total bases since April 25, a mark it said ranks fourth in MLB over that span. The segment focused on his breakthrough season and how he has settled into the leadoff role for the Giants.

Why it matters: The production gives San Francisco a top-of-order power source and extends a run Wire Report has tracked through Casey Schmitt's recent surge. If the leadoff role sticks, it changes how opposing pitchers have to navigate the Giants' first inning and lengthens the lineup behind him.

What to watch: Watch whether Schmitt remains locked into the leadoff spot and whether pitchers begin attacking him differently. His next stretch will show if this is a hot run or a sustainable lineup shift.
