What happened: Boston listed Devin Carter as out for its preseason game at Detroit on Oct. 20. The illness designation extends an absence that has held him out through camp.

Why it matters: Carter converted to Boston's final two-way deal on Oct. 18. A multi-week mono absence stalls his bid for opening 2026-27 rotation minutes.

What to watch: Boston otherwise has a full group available for the Tuesday window. Carter's status will turn on the next injury update before the opener.
