Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated 57m1 min read

What happened: The return package from the Crochet deal reached the majors within two seasons. Braden Montgomery lined a go-ahead two-run double for his first career postseason extra-base hit. The win sends Chicago home with a 2-0 ALDS lead.

Why it matters: Chicago now sits one win from the ALCS with the series shifting home. Cost-controlled production from the return package extends the contention window beyond this October.

By the numbers: Montgomery: 1 postseason XBH (go-ahead 2-RBI double). ALDS: Chicago leads 2-0.

What to watch: Chicago hosts Game 3 with a chance to close the series at home.
