What happened: Caitlin Clark produced the first 40-point, 10-assist game in WNBA history during the Fever's game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday. The performance came in a night that saw Clark set three separate career highs, climbing from 35 to 38 and finally 41 points as Indiana played into the fourth quarter.

Why it matters: The milestone lands days after the league suspended Alyssa Thomas one game and fined her $1,000 for a Flagrant 2 foul on Clark, keeping her at the center of the WNBA's national conversation. It also arrives in the same stretch Clark reached 200 career three-pointers in 74 games, the fastest pace in league history.

By the numbers: Clark's scoring line moved through three career highs in one game — 35, then 38, then 41 points — before the 40-point, 10-assist mark was confirmed as a first in WNBA history.

What to watch: The Fever continue play as the league heads toward the July 25 All-Star Game.
