What happened: Scheer's phone buzzed with messages casting him as the "Embarrassed Clippers Fan" after Wednesday's cap-circumvention ruling. Other supporters described renewed frustration with a franchise they feel remains an easy punchline.

Why it matters: The sanctions extend far beyond this offseason: the La Clippers will lose one first-round pick in every draft from 2029 through 2033. A $30 million team fine compounds the reputational damage and thinner long-term asset base.

What to watch: Attention turns to how the organization addresses supporters before the 2026-27 season and manages the coming draft gap.
