What happened: Cole Young won his first career AL Gold Glove Award at second base for the 2026 Major League Baseball season. Young was named a finalist for the honor in mid-October before taking the award over fellow American League nominees.

Why it matters: The selection makes Young the first Seattle infielder to earn a Gold Glove since 2020. The milestone cements the middle infielder's defensive standing heading into the 2027 campaign.

What to watch: Major League Baseball will announce the Platinum Glove Award winners following the conclusion of individual position honors.
