What happened: The Indianapolis Colts completed late-October trades with the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks to recoup 2027 draft capital ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline. Those deals follow the Houston Texans acquiring wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and a 2027 sixth-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 12 for 2027 second- and sixth-round selections, and the Dallas Cowboys sending a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. on Oct. 1. Earlier deadline-season moves saw the Baltimore Ravens trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 7 a day after Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson retired, following the New York Giants' Sept. 28 acquisition of quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Why it matters: Without a 2027 first-round selection, Indianapolis is accumulating assets to pursue a quarterback in the spring after Daniel Jones' struggles and waning organizational trust in Anthony Richardson Sr. San Francisco needed interior defensive line length beside Osa Odighizuwa and fourth-round rookie Gracen Halton, who were the only 49ers defensive tackles to appear in every game this season. Baltimore addressed a multi-year need at center after losing Tyler Linderbaum and placing Danny Pinter, Jovaughn Gwyn, and Ethan Pocic on injured reserve, while New York added quarterback depth after Jaxson Dart underwent surgery to repair the meniscus and MCL in his left knee.

By the numbers: San Francisco holds a 6-1 record despite ranking 24th in NFL pressure rate, with Osa Odighizuwa and Gracen Halton recording the team's only two batted passes in 2026. Elsewhere in the standings, the New York Giants sit third in the conference at 4-2-1 after a 27-21 road win at Houston on Oct. 25, trailed by the Baltimore Ravens at 4-3 (ninth seed, two-game losing streak), Dallas Cowboys at 3-4 (11th seed, one-game winning streak), Indianapolis Colts at 2-5 (12th seed, three-game losing streak, with Sauce Gardner listed as questionable), and Arizona Cardinals at 2-5 (14th seed).

What to watch: NFL front offices have until the Nov. 10 trade deadline to finalize remaining in-season deals. Indianapolis could move additional veterans to build further 2027 draft capital, while Dallas retains flexibility to make another addition after acquiring Joey Porter Jr.
