What happened: The Washington Commanders activated defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. off the physically unable to perform list. Washington also elevated safety Darren Hall and wide receiver Van Jefferson from the practice squad. Cornerback Trey Amos and running back Jeremy McNichols have been ruled out.

Why it matters: Amos is sidelined with an ankle injury, leaving the secondary without the 2025 second-round pick. McNichols is dealing with a quad injury. Wise's return bolsters the defensive front after he opened training camp on the active/PUP list.

What to watch: The Commanders will proceed without Amos and McNichols this week. Wise is now eligible to make his 2026 season debut.
