Cooper Flagg 🤝 Michael Jordan Year 2 for the reigning Kia NBA Rookie of the Year begins Oct. 21 vs. Houston! Via @NBA on X

What happened: Cooper Flagg enters his second season Oct. 21 against Houston as the reigning Kia Rookie of the Year. In 2025-26 he joined Michael Jordan as the only rookies to lead their teams in total points, rebounds, assists and steals.

Why it matters: The four-category lead places Flagg in rare rookie company with Jordan. His sophomore opener starts the 2026-27 test of whether that all-around production carries forward.

By the numbers: 2025-26: led team in total points, rebounds, assists and steals; one of two rookies to do so alongside Jordan.

What to watch: The Oct. 21 opener against Houston sets the first checkpoint for Year 2.
