What happened: Dallas ruled out linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and cornerback Cobie Durant for Sunday, both with hamstring injuries. Safety Malik Hooker is set to play through a forearm issue, cornerback Shavon Revel will be available with knee and ankle issues, and Houston ruled out linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair with a groin injury.

Why it matters: Dallas had already opened Texans week without Durant and Overshown, so Friday's designations lock in two defensive absences the club had been managing all week. Hooker's clearance keeps an experienced safety available, while Houston also heads into the matchup short a veteran linebacker.

What to watch: Dallas and Houston will release inactive lists 90 minutes before Sunday's kickoff. Dallas' linebacker and corner rotations will show how it absorbs the losses of Overshown and Durant.
