What happened: The Dallas Cowboys selected University of Central Florida edge rusher Malachi Lawrence with the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Lawrence, a standout pass rusher, was projected as a top-25 prospect after a dominant senior season. This marks the Cowboys' first selection after trading back into the spot.

Why it matters: Dallas addresses a key need on the defensive line following Micah Parsons' injury concerns and free agency losses. Lawrence's speed and production could elevate the Cowboys' sack totals, impacting their 2026 playoff push. Betting futures for Dallas Super Bowl odds have tightened slightly post-selection.
