Rodríguez made an immediate impact in his first appearance for Columbus, breaking through with a header in the 22nd minute. His goal gave the Crew a lead they carried deep into the second half.

Tapia doubled the advantage in the 81st minute, putting Columbus in control as the match entered its closing stages. He then helped create the third goal, setting up Habroune in the 94th minute to complete the 3-0 result.
