What happened: Dante Trader Jr. cut in front of the route and came away with an interception during Miami's game on FOX.

Why it matters: The takeaway gave Miami's defense a field-position swing in a regular-season opener. For Trader, it was an early Year 2 splash after a rookie season spent working into the secondary rotation.

By the numbers: Trader appeared in 17 games as a rookie in 2025. Miami's roster page lists 51 tackles, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one recovery from that season.

What to watch: Watch whether the turnover leads to points and whether Trader's role grows deeper into the game.
