What happened: Nick Sirianni said he saw no effort issue in Philadelphia's 38-21 home loss to Dallas on Monday, the Eagles' fifth straight defeat. "Effort in no way, shape [or] form was an issue here," he said Wednesday. Saquon Barkley told reporters the team must keep the same mindset it had during its five-game winning streaks: "You never quit. You never give up.

Why it matters: Jalen Hurts is out for the season with blood clots in his lungs, and half a dozen offensive starters have missed time. Next Gen Stats puts Philadelphia's playoff chances at 5%, and a loss to Washington on Sunday night would cut that to 3%. Rival teams expect the Eagles to be mild sellers before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, per Wire Report's earlier coverage.

By the numbers: Through seven weeks the Eagles rank last in the league in second-half scoring (5.29 points) and yardage (110.7 per half), per TruMedia Sports. The defense allows 14.1 points after halftime (29th) and 204.4 yards (31st), and has dropped to 21st in points allowed after ranking second two years ago and fifth last year. In first halves Philadelphia is ninth in scoring at 12.86 points.

What to watch: Philadelphia visits Washington on Sunday night, then plays the Giants before the bye, with the Nov. 10 trade deadline looming.
