What happened: Diana Taurasi will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2027. The honor recognizes a career that included three WNBA championships with the Phoenix Mercury and three national titles at UConn. Taurasi retired as the WNBA's all-time leading scorer with six Olympic gold medals.

Why it matters: The induction cements the legacy of one of basketball's most decorated champions following her storied professional career. Phoenix previously honored the franchise icon when Devin Booker attended Diana Taurasi's No. 3 retirement ceremony in August. The enshrinement formally establishes her standing among the game's greatest figures.

What to watch: The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame will formally enshrine the Class of 2027 next year. Additional inductees for the class will be announced ahead of the ceremony.
