What happened: Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins highlighted relentless skating and aggressive puck pursuit as foundational requirements for the club. He noted that committing to high work rates and puck battles creates a sustainable formula across regular-season competition.

Why it matters: Establishing a demanding forecheck and defensive structure remains pivotal for Edmonton during the 2026-27 campaign. Nugent-Hopkins emphasized that maintaining that pace systematically disrupts opposing game plans and generates offensive-zone pressure.

What to watch: The Oilers continue regular-season action looking to replicate that high-tempo pursuit across upcoming matchups.
