What happened: Stefon Diggs began on-field work Friday in No. 18, a temporary assignment while his season number remains unsettled. Washington signed the veteran receiver this week for the upcoming 2026 season.

Why it matters: The move gives Washington an established receiving option for its preseason preparations. The one-year structure limits the commitment while giving Diggs an immediate role.

What to watch: Diggs' preseason workload and permanent jersey number are the next markers to watch.
