What happened: NBC added Doc Rivers to its 'NBA Showtime' studio program, placing the veteran coach on the network's flagship pregame coverage. The move expands his presence after Doc Rivers joined the NBA on NBC crew alongside son Austin Rivers in September.

Why it matters: Rivers brings championship coaching experience to NBC's studio analysis as the network establishes its basketball coverage for the 2026-27 season. His transition to the desk provides national viewers with tactical insight from a coach who spent more than two decades on NBA sidelines.

What to watch: Rivers will make regular studio appearances throughout NBC's national game coverage during the 2026-27 season.
