What happened: The teams announced the one-for-one exchange Monday. Both forwards were restricted free agents this offseason.

Why it matters: Pastujov has yet to make his NHL debut, while Farrell last appeared in the league in 2022-23. The deal reshapes each club's developmental scoring depth for 2026-27.

By the numbers: Pastujov recorded 21 goals and 36 assists in 71 AHL games in 2025-26, averaging 0.80 points per game. Farrell posted 17 goals and 36 assists in 72 games, averaging 0.74.

What to watch: Contract terms and training-camp assignments will determine where both forwards begin the 2026-27 season.
