What happened: Dylan Garand denied Auston Matthews with a windmill save during Thursday night's 2026-27 regular-season action.

Why it matters: Garand agreed to a two-year contract extension in June before stepping into regular-season netminding duties this month. Matthews entered the contest following a strong opening stretch to the October schedule.

What to watch: Both sides continue their October regular-season slates following Thursday's national doubleheader schedule.
