What happened: Philadelphia Eagles chose defensive tackle Uar Bernard from Nigeria with the 251st pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The 6-4, 306-pound lineman posted a 4.63-second 40-yard dash at the HBCU Combine. Bernard is the first player from the NFL's African International Pathway Program to be selected.

Why it matters: This selection highlights the NFL's push into international talent development. Bernard's rare athleticism bolsters Eagles' defensive line depth after acquiring EDGE Jonathan Greenard on Day 2. He could compete for snaps in the 2026 season rotation.

By the numbers: Uar Bernard: 6-4, 306 lbs, 6% body fat, 4.63 40-yard dash (HBCU Combine). Historic: First African International Pathway Program draftee.

What to watch: Track Bernard's rookie minicamp showing and Eagles' UDFA signings post-draft.
