What happened: Following the Dallas Cowboys' 38-21 final victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, Ed Werder pointed to offensive lineman Tyler Smith as a tone-setter up front. Werder noted that Dallas extended running back Javonte Williams this offseason alongside its heavy draft investment in the offensive line. ESPN's Louis Riddick also singled out Smith's performance as worthy of player-of-the-game recognition.

Why it matters: Leaning on Javonte Williams and the Dallas ground game establishes a physical play style while protecting quarterback Dak Prescott. Controlling possession through the run game also limits how many snaps the Cowboys' defense has to play.

What to watch: Watch whether Dallas continues to lean on Smith and Williams to control tempo and protect Prescott going forward.
