What happened: Brunson separated from Thompson to hit a late three-pointer during the 2025 first-round series between New York and Detroit. The two clubs meet again in New York on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Why it matters: Detroit signed Thompson to a contract extension on Sept. 22, keeping the perimeter defender in place after that 2025 postseason meeting. Thompson enters Tuesday listed as questionable with a right ankle sprain.

What to watch: Pre-tipoff availability updates will determine whether Thompson is active to face Brunson in New York.
