What happened: Terrell moved from a backup spot on the initial preseason depth chart to first-team nickel. Daniels made the same jump at inside linebacker.

Why it matters: The promotions settle two defensive competitions before the opener. Atlanta will entrust first-year players with coverage and run-fit duties at separate levels of the defense.

What to watch: Their snap shares in the opener will show whether the depth-chart leads translate into full-time roles.
