Club added two defenders earlier this month

Forever a part of our club's story. Thank you for everything, Matt. 🧡💙 FC Cincinnati have waived Matt Miazga and wish hi Via @fccincinnati on X

What happened: The club paired the move with a public thank-you to the veteran defender as his Cincinnati tenure ended. It comes eight days after Wire Report noted Miazga was finalizing a departure.

Why it matters: FC Cincinnati have already started reshaping the back line this month, adding David Douděra from Slavia Prague and Julián Malatini on loan from Werder Bremen. The defensive turnover also fits the club's recent effort to free Pavel Bucha for more midfield work.

By the numbers: Douděra arrived at age 28 after making seven Champions League appearances, while Malatini joined at 23 after 34 appearances since moving to Bremen in 2024.

What to watch: The next step is how FC Cincinnati use the roster opening and how quickly the club's new defensive pieces settle into the regular-season rotation.
