What happened: The 31-year-old center back was available after his Sept. 14 waiver by FC Cincinnati. He joins a conference foe sitting one spot ahead of his old team in the table.

Why it matters: NYCFC add veteran depth at center back for the MLS regular-season stretch run. The move sharpens the race with Cincinnati with playoff positioning still open.

What to watch: Watch for his availability for NYCFC's next league match and where he slots in central defense.
