What happened: Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco, recently signed as a backup, stated that other NFL teams are 'dumb' for not signing him to start. The comment came amid Cincinnati's quarterback carousel with Joe Burrow sidelined by injury. Flacco, 39, joined the Bengals on Dec. 11 after stints with Cleveland last season.

Why it matters: Flacco's bold claim underscores his belief in his proven starter credentials from a 4-1 stint with the Browns in 2023. It spotlights Bengals' desperation at QB amid a 5-8 record and fading playoff hopes.

By the numbers: Bengals record: 5-8 (3rd AFC North). Flacco 2023: 4-1 record, 1,616 pass yds, 13 TD, 8 INT. Playoff (pre-Flacco signing). No notable line movements from this quote.

What to watch: Monitor Flacco's activation if Jake Browning falters; Bengals face Vikings Week 15.
