What happened: Devey died Tuesday, four days before the 49ers offered condolences to his wife, Linsey, and the Devey family. He spent the 2015 season with San Francisco after joining the club in a trade.

Why it matters: Devey rose from an undrafted lineman to an eight-year NFL career. He later volunteered as a high school coach and mentor in Idaho.

By the numbers: Devey played 15 games and started nine for San Francisco in 2015. He made 45 regular-season and playoff appearances during his NFL career.
