What happened: The Miami Dolphins announced the passing of former defensive tackle Bob Heinz on Tuesday. His son, John, confirmed that Heinz died at age 79. Heinz played nine seasons with the organization from 1969 to 1977.

Why it matters: Heinz was a key contributor on the 'No-Name Defense' that propelled Miami to consecutive titles in Super Bowl VII and Super Bowl VIII. The 1972 squad remains the only team in NFL history to complete an undefeated season. Heinz is the 22nd member of that 1972 roster to pass away.

What to watch: The franchise is expected to announce memorial plans and tributes in the coming days.
