What happened: Foot soreness kept Geno Smith out of the Aug. 14 preseason opener. He returned one week later for Friday's game.

Why it matters: The appearance gives Smith live work before final roster cuts and the regular season. It also provides an in-game test of his availability after the interrupted preseason.

What to watch: Attention turns to Smith's availability for the Aug. 28 preseason finale.
