What happened: Jordan Schultz reported the agreement would keep the 32-year-old Winston in New York through 2028, when he will be 35. He enters his second Giants season as Jaxson Dart's backup after appearing in three games in 2025.

Why it matters: Dart's injuries forced Winston into action last season, underscoring the value of an experienced reserve. New York also views the veteran as a mentor in its quarterback room.

By the numbers: Winston finished 2025 with 567 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He has 24,792 passing yards, 156 touchdowns and 113 interceptions across 108 career games.

What to watch: Winston's role behind Dart bears watching as the 2026 regular season begins.
