What happened: The NBA's account highlighted Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's enthusiasm for Oklahoma City rookie Aday Mara, citing his work under the basket.

Why it matters: Mara has moved into a bigger role, and his first career NBA start came this week. A star teammate's public backing is a mark of how quickly the rookie has been absorbed into the rotation.

What to watch: Mara's rebounding and finishing around the rim are the areas to track as his role develops.
