What happened: Robert Griffin III endorsed Brock Purdy as the NFL MVP on Oct. 14. He framed Purdy as the driver of San Francisco's surge rather than a passenger.

Why it matters: Early MVP backing shapes the awards conversation around the league's pace-setter. It adds to a week of national voices placing Purdy at the front of the race.

By the numbers: Purdy completed 197 of 284 passes for 2,167 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions across nine games in 2025. San Francisco selected him 262nd overall in 2022 out of Iowa State.
