What happened: Bryce Harper, a Padres-Braves matchup, Cam Schlittler, Payton Tolle and elite closer entrances were floated as early October draws. Atlanta's Friday game at Houston has not started, with the board still at 0-0.

Why it matters: The list centers on the star matchups and postseason theater that usually pull attention toward October. For Atlanta, the immediate focus stays on a scheduled game rather than any result already in hand.

What to watch: First pitch in Atlanta's game at Houston is still ahead. The October scenarios will come into sharper focus as the regular-season schedule plays out.
